Halloween should be a national holiday.  Oh well, we’ll just pretend it is.

Hops Holster: Packing Six Beers at Once

October 30, 2007

Hops Holster

The Hops Holster is a clip-on belt that can hold six beer cans. Good for at a tailgate or any other place where you wanna look like a balla that rolls with six cans at a time.

The belt looks solid, and each pocket is made out of neoprene, so it’ll keep the cans insulated in case you can’t get to all of them that fast. It comes in five different colors. And extra points to them for sticking it on this very fit girl in the product shot. (Note: she’s probably a “but-her face”…)

We’ve seen other products that try to do the same thing like the Beer Belt, but at only $14.95, The Hops Holster is way cheaper. (The Beer Belt goes for almost $50 from after 5)

Forget Double Fisting, Roll With Six Cans at a Time here: [hopsholster.com]. They also make a shoulder holster - if you’re not into the belt thing - and an insulated carrying case for a keg.

Russian Drinks Himself to Death in Vodka Contest. Loses Prize of More Vodka.

October 29, 2007

Vodka

A Russian man died after downing 1.5 liters of Vodka in a drinking contest in a bar in the southern town of Volgodonsk. The unlucky winner succumbed to alcohol poisoning only 20 minutes after finishing the contest. The 1.5 liters consumed by the winner equates to 50.72 ounces, or almost 34 standard 1.5 ounce shots.

In the contest, participants were given half-liter glasses and invited to fill them from buckets filled to the brim with the spirit. Rye bread, sausage, and mustard (…mustard?) were provided to help the participants keep it down.

5 other participants were sent to the hospital after trying to keep up with the eventual winner.

It’s all in a day’s work for the Russians. Russians are among the heaviest drinkers in the world, consuming an average of 15 liters of alcohol per person each year. In 2002, more than 40,000 Russians died from alcohol poisoning. Some experts estimate that one in seven Russians is an alcoholic.

Crazy! As for the winner, his untimely death means that he will be unable to take advantage of his prize: another 10 bottles of Vodka.
