Vodka and Red Bull: The Night Saver
February 16, 2008
I used to wonder how my friends would would have the energy to be dancing to bad house music at 7am after a long night out.
Then I started drinking Vodka Red Bulls.

I didn’t even like vodka at all until I tried it with Red Bull. If I take a straight shot I usually fight off a bad face for about a minute. This might have to do with the fact that it tastes like hairspray scented cologne.
A friend of mine once filled a bottle of Grey Goose with Smirnoff and at his party everyone couldn’t stop talking about how much better the “Grey Goose” tasted. This doesn’t say much for my friend, but it doesn’t say much for vodka lovers either.
The Vodka Red Bull
So I found a new respect for vodka when my friend ordered me a Vodka Red Bull. The Vodka Red Bull is usually served 5:1 ratio in a high balls glass. Finally the tastes of both vodka and Red Bull gave way to a calmer mix- which is good since vodka had been pretty hard to avoid especially in the club scene. The best part was that the Red Bull gave me an extra push to keep going longer into the night. [Read more]
How To: Stay Cool When You Stay Sober
February 13, 2008
Big test? No worries. Being sober doesn’t always mean no fun.

It is no secret that drinking is essentially the focal point of college social life. Whether you are playing beer pong with a few friends in your apartment or going to some wildly insane kegger, consuming alcohol is the driving force behind 60% of all social activities on campus (getting laid accounts for 30%, food accounts for the remaining 10%).
So what are you supposed to do if you are one of those people who has trouble taking shots and thinks beer tastes like urine? Does a distaste for alcohol automatically make you a social outcast? Well it certainly doesn’t have to. Here are a few ways to keep an active social life in college, even if you don’t drink: [Read more]
It’s All About the Kicks
February 11, 2008
I learned an important lesson recently when I got rejected from a nightclub because of my shoes. Even if you’re actually 21, a club can still kick you out based on dress code. Here’s the story:

The college bar scene, while great, can get old. As I got closer to 21, I couldn’t wait to start hitting the trendy nightclubs downtown. For most people, in the first two years of college, the only legal experiences with bars is at 18+ college nights. Besides that you’re passing back IDs, sneaking in the side door, or you laminated an ID you made in Microsoft Word. [Read more]
Oops I Passed Out: Accidentally Drunk
February 2, 2008

I love beer. The only problem with beer is that once you drink it, it’s gone. So the other day I decided to make some mixed drinks instead. It was a laid-back Wednesday evening, my roommate and I were going to play some Rock Band and make it and early night.
We figured we’d have one Coke&Rum, just get a little buzz going. But of course, since we’re only having one, we’d better make it strong.
Rum & Coke #1
We played some damn good Rock Band. Finished a 6-song set in Chicago and hit the 44 million fan mark. I decided my bassist should shave his mustache and put on a trench coat. Since we played so well, we figured we might as well have another drink.
Naturally it’d be way lame to make less-strong drinks than the first ones, so we made these slightly stronger.

Forecast - F*ing Freezing: How to Party in Cold Weather
January 25, 2008
Stay warm and get luckier!
Not everyone is lucky enough to go to school in the warm climate. As college students we have an unyielding need to party, but during the winter months nature expresses her disapproval by way of relentless and bitter cold.
Well we at College Drinker are not about to step aside and let nature tell us when we can and cannot party.
Here are some tips for partying in the cold:
If you’re THROWING the party:
We all want parties with sick themes that rhyme and end with “Hos,†but in the winter it’s just not practical.
- Select your theme carefully: A lingerie party is great when it’s 80 degrees outside, but when it’s 0, attendance will fall. Shoot for a theme like “Eskimos and Eski-Hos.†Even with a warm theme, the cold has a way of convincing people not to go out that night.
- Convince people that it’s easy to get to: Tell them about the bus that stops only a block away, or how it’s only $5 for a taxi or something like that. [Read more]
Raising the Bar
January 23, 2008

Thursdays. Better known as “Thirsty” Thursdays. Infamous on college campuses for being the day most students skip their classes, being the night most students go out to bars, and for starting with a “Thurs.” But our main focus is the middle claim, the “bar” phenomenon. Crowded frat parties with beer pong and keg stands are one of the greatest things in the world, but it is fun to experience social life in a more sophisticated way. The more mature appeal has lead college-town bars to become hot spots for campus social life. College students are intrigued by this wild new scene in which they can show off their sexiness.
