Pacifico Clara

In the year 1900, three Germans opened the Cerveceria del Pacifico brewery in Mazatlan, Mexico. They began brewing a beer called Pacifico Clara, or “clear Pacific”.

Now if you’re a fan of Mexican beer, and if you know how seriously the Germans take their ale, you might think only good could come of this pairing. But you’d be wrong. In fact, I’m at a loss as to why anyone would drink this instead of Corona. Is it supposed to give you a change of pace? Make you feel a little unique? Maybe sophisticated?

Whatever it is, it’s not the price and it’s definitely not the taste. Pacifico Clara is basically Corona without a kick (it’s also darker and not as carbonated). I tried spicing it up with salt and a wedge of lemon, but all this did was kill the carbonation and diminish what little flavor there was to begin with.

Save your time and your money, people, and stick to what works: if you want Mexican beer, drink Corona.

When down in Cabo, all they serve is Pacifico and I could not have been more pleased. It has a great taste and you can keep drinking them all night and not feel like switching up your beer selection in-between numerous tequila shots. I have a problem with Corona, its the most hyped up beer ever made. It’s the first beer you snuck from your parents stash in the fridge and beer of choice for you mother at a Mexican restaurant. It has no flavor and tastes like crap without a lime.

Bottom line, Pacifico is a great beer that is not too pricey and will leave you satisfied.

This is my favorite beer. I know there are better beers out there, but they don’t come in a 24 case like pacifico does. Grab a 24 case and you’re set for the week. Like Drew said, it never gets old.
For the ladies, throw a lime wedge in there and they’ll often like it more than corona.

Wow do I ever have to disagree with this review. Corona is probably the worst Mexican beer out there. Any beer that requires a piece of fruit to taste good is not a good beer in my books.

The coldest Corona in the world tastes so incredibly bland and boring without a lemon or lime in it that I cannot believe it still sells as well as it does.

Pacifico Clara on the other hand is full bodied, has a crisp taste and a smooth aftertaste. It puts Corona to shame. Anyone wishing to try a real Mexican beer would do well to try Pacifico Clara. If you like the taste of Lowenbrau, Dab, Stella Artois, Warsteiner, etc., then you will thoroughly enjoy Pacifico Clara.

    Easy 4/5 for Pacifico Clara.
    Corona I’d rate a 2/5.
