Caffeine + Booze: Getting the Extra Buzz

It’s getting dark and you’re getting tired. Unfortunately for you, the party’s only getting started. When it comes to those late nights, you turn to your favorite liquid friend: caffeinated hard drinks.
These drinks come in various forms, but fit into a few common themes. We sampled three different types to find out a little bit more about why they’re so great.
Jager Bomb
A Jager Bomb provides a burst of caffeine and alcohol strong enough to start making your friends funny again. A couple more, and those weird girls sitting in the corner will finally have someone drunk enough to hit on.
VERDICT: Jager Bombs contain a potent mixture of Red Bull and Jagermeister, mixed together and then shot. These babies are a great pregame drink, but also serve well in the clutch when a party just isn’t coming together quite right.
Whiskey and Coke
The obvious alternative to a rum and coke. The great thing about adding whiskey instead of rum is that it doesn’t bring back memories of trying to sneak drinks in your parents’ basement during your introductory years to alcohol. Yeah, we’re talking about you, Bacardi and Coke.
VERDICT: A well-ordered Whiskey and coke (a Jack and coke is fine), puts off a more sophisticated drinker’s aura. The whiskey and coke will wake you up a bit more subtly than the other two.
Sparks (a.k.a carbonated malt beverages)
Of the three varieties, Sparks is the least likely to cause any adverse effects (hangovers). Sparks has a lower amount of alcohol and larger overall volume, introducing alcohol into the blood stream at a slower rate, thus lengthening the time it takes drunk.
VERDICT: Whereas whiskey and coke is a fairly manly drink, Sparks seems like a drink for girls. This beverage is a hit among partiers with a palate less inclined towards hard alcohol. With its soft-drink feeling and wine-cooler strength, Sparks is very distinct from the other two drinks.
And The Winner Is:
Whatever beverage you choose to indulge in, it’s sure to give you an energetic buzz and fairly unique intoxication. Great for when you need that little extra something to keep being the life of the party, these drinks rarely fail to disappoint.
