About: The Manhattan is often refered to as “The Drinking man’s cocktail.” Some believe the name comes from banquets at the Manhattan Club where is was first served in the 1870s.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 parts rye or canadian whiskey
  • 1 part sweet red vermouth
  • dash of bitters
  • cherry (garnish)

Directions:

  1. Stir the whiskey and vermouth over ice.
  2. Add the bitters.
  3. Strain into a martini-style glass and serve straight up.
